EcoSangha Seattle

EcoSangha is devoted to the propagation of Buddhism as an inherently ecological perspective and to finding answers to today's urgent environmental challenges, most particularly our destruction of the earth through Buddhism's three poisons of greed, hatred and ignorance. Our goals are:

To enlighten fellow Buddhists as to the inherently ecological nature of our religion.
To inform the environmental/conservation community that science and religion can be seen as a unified whole and that religious teachings may provide answers to environmental problems, as well as serving as a guide to living in harmony with our world and its inhabitants.
To encourage Buddhists of all countries and traditions to incorporate into their shrine the image of the Buddha in the "Earth Touching" mudra (posture) to represent the earth-grounded (ecological) teachings of the Buddha.
To link Buddhist and other religions' environmental groups together, to cooperate where possible, to report news, to inform each other of upcoming activities and to exchange ideas.

EcoSangha Seattle's programs are primarily conducted on-campus at Seattle University, located on First Hill near downtown Seattle.
